The Carpet Matches the Elves

Returning from Folsom Street Fair Sunday, I was stepping out of a train into Glen Park Station and heard some sort of rolling, snapping sound, and a brief chorus of shouts. Walking down toward the escalator I encountered a small group of people dressed like elves (of the North Pole variety, not the Tolkien-via-Hollywood sort). They’d just finished rolling out a red carpet leading right up the door of a car from my train.

The doors closed, the train pulled out, the elves rolled up their carpet. “Nothing to see here,” one of them said to people looking curiously over. Then they headed off towards the escalator.

Damn, now I wish I knew the rest of that story. Plus, given that BART’s been missing the black door squares on the platforms by up to a couple of feet in that station recently, I’m a bit surprised their aim was so good.
